About David Mullin

Photography is how I force myself to slow down and pay attention.

I’m drawn to street scenes with people but I’m more interested in the quiet moments. Light, structure, and color are what I notice first. Once I find a scene, I try to simplify it down to its basic elements until it feels resolved.

Kinetic energy or decisive moments don’t interest me as much as what exists beneath. Ordinary spaces, small gestures, and the way people move through an environment are what I’m drawn to. In my photographs, people often aren’t the subject so much as they are part of the structure, another element within the frame.

Over time, photography has become less about making images and more about the practice of going out and taking them. It’s a way to slow things down, to bring a sense of order to what can sometimes feel chaotic.

What I’m really after is a photograph that lingers, something that feels quiet, intentional, and complete.
